Sister, remanded armed robbery accused shed tears

ALLAN Philadelphia (no address given) burst into tears yesterday when Magistrate Sueanna Lovell remanded him to prison on an indictable robbery under arms charge. His sister also began to cry hysterically and police had to control her before he was led out of the courtroom.
The allegation against the accused is that, on December 6, being armed with a gun, he robbed Fayann Lewis of belongings worth $759,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, had successfully objected to bail for Philadelphia, noting the seriousness of the offence and that a gun was used.
The prosecutor also said the victim positively identified the prisoner.
But Defence Counsel Patrice Henry maintained that the accused was at home when the alleged incident occurred and his family is very surprised that he is charged.
The case will be called again on January 6, 2012.
