KHEMCHAN Karanchand (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday, on an abusive language charge. He pleaded guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on December 1, he abused Indira Persaud, causing a breach of the peace.
The defendant told the court he had a few drinks and went to bed but was awakened by his son crying and saw the virtual complainant beating the child.
Karanchand said he became annoyed with Persaud and an argument arose between them and police arrived and arrested him at his home.
He was fined $5,000 with the alternative of two weeks imprisonment, after which he begged the court for a week to pay the fine.
