PPP/C winding down campaign, increases focus on national unity

THE People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) is confident, optimistic and hopeful, according to campaign spokesman Minister, Robert Persaud, who contends that as the incumbent party winds down its campaign, more focus is being placed on national unity. Bringing down the curtain on the PPP/C’s campaign will be a massive unity rally and concert on Saturday at the National Stadium.
“The elections process is about uniting people, not about division,” he said.
Persaud added that regardless on one’s political affiliations, the rally and concert is open to all, as Guyanese recommit to national unity.
He explained that in addition to being rich in culture, the rally will feature many speakers from different strata of society.
Persaud stated that the PPP/C campaign has reached out to many communities in all the regions of Guyana.
According to him, in the last days before the elections many more communities will be visited.
Only yesterday, the PPP/C Presidential Candidate, Mr. Donald Ramotar, and Prime Ministerial Candidate, Mr. Samuel Hinds, visited Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice).
Persaud noted that the region is a key area in the grand developmental agenda for the nation, which also is in keeping with equitable development across all 10 regions.
He added that the response from the many rallies and public meetings have been encouraging, a clear indicator that the campaign is gaining significant momentum as the PPP/C heads into the 2011 polls.
