Good Samaritan Home gets donation from overseas benefactor

THE residents referred to as the ‘ Golden Girls’ of Good Samaritan Home, in Berbice, received care packages, compliments of New Amsterdamers International Inc (NAII), during a ceremony punctuated with spiritual songs and prayers at their Stanleytown location, in Berbice last Saturday. The donation, which includes bed sheets, toiletries and foodstuff, were handed over by Project Coordinator, Ms. Sharon Correia, to Matron Jacqueline Henry, who expressed gratitude to the overseas based group.
Prior to making the presentation, Correia said the non-profit organisation staged a series of fund-raising activities, among them a fun day at Sea View Park, Canarsie, Brooklyn, New York, where the money to buy the items was secured.
Meanwhile, during the month of June, the beneficiaries were involved in renovation works at the home, which is basically for women, in an effort to improve their standing of living.
During that exercise, reconstruction was done to the building and the fence.
NAII is committed to rebuilding and revitalising New Amsterdam through a series of  projects funded by donations and executed in collaboration with New Amsterdam’s community leaders.
