Rohee claims PPP/C meetings, rallies most attended
THE largest number of people, in respect to political meetings and campaign rallies, has been attending events organised by the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C).
PPP/C executive member Clement Rohee told this to the media, at the party’s Freedom House, Robb Street headquarters, earlier this week.
According to him, there has been a total of  847 public meetings held countrywide since the campaign began and, of those, 399 have been hosted by PPP/C, 227 by the Alliance For Change (AFC) and 221 by A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).
Of the 19 rallies hosted by the three political parties, PPP/C has hosted 11, APNU five, and AFC two.
As to the importance of these statistics, Rohee said, “We have had the largest number attending any one of these rallies or public meetings organised by the PPP/C. Numbers are important because they are a serious indicator of the interest people who attend these meetings have in the political party holding them, the speakers addressing and the esteem in which they hold one political party or the other.”
Despite the statistics, he acknowledged that there will be different perceptions about how many persons attended these engagements, since the media will give their own numbers, the police will give theirs and, undoubtedly, the other parties.
“We have our own operatives to make our own assessment of the numbers who participate. We have no need to inflate numbers or to blow numbers out of proportion,” he declared.
