THE BAGOTSTOWN murder trial involving accused Travis Rudder was halted since Monday, following the detention of one of the jurors sitting in the case before Justice Dawn Gregory.
It was learnt yesterday that the juror, who was the driver of a vehicle in which one of the passengers was shot during the journey, was invited to the police station, and was assisting the cops in their investigations.
The juror was released yesterday at the closure of the police inquiry, and he is expected to return to court today, when the trial, which began with a voir dire, (a trial within a trial) is expected to continue.
The accused, Travis Rudder, is indicted for the murder of Donnis King on May 23, 2007.
Represented by Attorney-at-Law Glenn Hanoman, Rudder had pleaded not guilty to the offence. After he contended that the police had not obtained his statement in accordance with the judge’s rules, Justice Dawn Gregory decided to conduct a voir dire to determine the admissibility of the statement.
The prosecution is being conducted by Miss Prithima Kissoon, in association with Miss Konyo Sandiford.
The prosecution expects to call 6 witnesses in support of its case. (George Barclay)
