Examine the records of the political parties…

Jagdeo maintains that the core of the PPP/C has been the needs of the people
PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo, at the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) Stewartville rally Sunday, urged the thousands gathered to examine the records of those contesting the upcoming elections and stressed that the core of the PPP/C has been the needs of the people.

“In a democratic society, numbers matter and we have the numbers here…the reason why the PPP family has grown stronger over the years is that we know what we stand for. What we stand for can’t be traded, it can’t be bartered, it can’t be changed,” he said.
The Head of State observed that the PPP/C has to be a nationalistic party, adding that the last two decades has seen Guyana fostering national unity where Guyana is truly for all Guyanese.
“Throughout the existence of the party, we have held true to that motto (Guyana is for all Guyanese)…that is why the PPP/C is relevant, that is why the PPP/C is strong, because we have never pandered to narrow, pedantic views about race and religion…this party belongs to all of Guyana,” Jagdeo said.
According to him, that is why equal opportunities are being provided Guyanese from all across the nation.
“The PPP/C cut its teeth fighting to bring freedom back to Guyana…we believe we have to create opportunities for everyone. The core of the party needs to remain with the people who need us…it is because of this philosophy which has guided us through the years that all of our programmes and polices are human focused,” Jagdeo stressed.
He maintained that delivering equal opportunities, especially educational opportunities, will see Guyanese battling challenges successfully and realizing their potential for better lives.
Jagdeo noted that the opposition is waging a war of lies and called for all Guyanese to put under scrutiny those who aspire to lead the nation.
“As I grew up, I saw abuse of power. We didn’t have freedom…the right to vote was snatched away from us. We didn’t have democracy…examine APNU’s record,” he said.
The Head of State called for the future of Guyana to be seen above every political party, the interest of Guyana to be considered above political parties, come November 28th.
“Don’t give up a single vote…if we get below 50 per cent cat eat all a’ we dinner, because Donald Ramotar will not be able to manage the country and take us forward the way he should,” Jagdeo said.
According to the president, Guyana must move forward, not return to a time when there is a loss of political power, or worst yet, when there is the loss of freedom for another 30 years.
