No arrests in Blygezight pensioner’s robbery

DESPITE several leads the police are yet to make an arrest following the burglary of home-alone, Mohabir Sugrim, who was beaten and injured at his home by three bandits on the night of October 25. The man’s daughter, Rhonda King, yesterday told the Guyana Chronicle that her father was viciously beaten when three men broke into their Lot 246 Blygezight, Campbellville, Georgetown home while he was home alone and watching television on motorcade night.
She added that the police have since re-visited the scene and took statements from her sick father last week but said they are still investigating.
The 56-year-old man remains tramautised by the incident which has left him with severe pains in the head and has resorted to staying with relatives since he was discharged from the hospital.
Rhonda King told the Guyana Chronicle that her father had returned home after viewing the Diwali motorcade and was watching television about  23:00hrs when the robbers barged in and began beating him while demanding valuables.
At the time of the burglary, King said that her father was home alone and the bandits gained entry by prising open a wooden door at the side of the two-storeyed concrete house.
She added that, that was the second robbery. On March 4 this year bandits also stormed the house and took away some money.
King stated that this time the men, used a nipper, a crescent spanner and whatever they found in the house to ducttape and beat her father, who is very tramautised by the ordeal.
She noted that the bandits took their time with the pensioner and severely beat him in the head and about the body demanding jewels and cash.
King said the robbers carted off a video camera, a cellular phone, money and jewellery and has no idea who is targeting the home of her father and brother.
