THE Buxton people’s positive response to the PPP/C last Thursday is a stinging shock to the PNCR/APNU. The likelihood of an early recovery is complicated by the fact that the shock waves penetrated a bunch of geriatrics in the PNCR/APNU leadership.
I commend my brothers and sisters of Buxton for their defiance of the PNCR/APNU, which tried to prevent them from participating in the PPP/C meeting. It was a powerful message for this Congress Place cabal who believe they have transport for Afro-Guyanese.
As Guyanese, we each have a right to decide our own destiny, inclusive of our choice to support or not to support a particular political party. No one should harass or make us uncomfortable for our choice. This is a very serious matter.
Unfortunately, I share the experience of being harassed, vilified and repudiated for association with the PPP/C, which was not a wild choice but one well considered, given the rich history of successes behind the PPP/C.
Over the next few months, those of you who boldly demonstrated your wish to be associated with the PPP/C may be targets of the PNCR/APNU hooligans. I encourage you to remain strong and committed to the cause you believe in, and to count on me anytime for support, advice and friendship in this struggle.
This old, rotten politics of the PNCR now APNU must not be condoned or tolerated for any moment. It is time more of us stand up for what we believe in, call a spade a spade, and move on with our lives. Whether you are from Buxton, Plaisance, Crabwood Creek or Lethem, do not allow anyone to determine your destiny for you. Take control of your own future.
Long Live the people of Buxton! More of us need to reject the PNCR/APNU racist behaviour and stand up for what is right.
Regards,
Kwame Mc Coy
