Rodrick Edinboro admitted to the Bar

ANOTHER newly graduated lawyer, Rodrick De Jon Edinboro was admitted to the Bar on Wednesday by Justice Winston Patterson.
His petition was presented by Ms. Sandra Kurtzious, who told the judge of his several achievements that Justice Patterson observed could not have been secured by hard work alone.

It must have been as a result of Divine Intervention and the strict observance of religious principles, he said, in admitting Edinboro to practise and wishing him every success.
The judge told the new lawyer: “Your background and scholastic achievements, thus far, are commendable but please guard against complacency and propel, with dynamic fervour and professional acumen to excel and participate in the development of the enhancement of the law and justice wherever this may take you.
“Continue in your religious involvement because, thus far, it has done you well.   There is no reason why, at this stage, you should shed yourself from that.”
In the presence of his mother, too,  Justice Patterson advised Edinboro to master his brief at all times and remember that preparation is the key to success.
Kurtzious said the inductee is the son of Cheryl Ann Edinboro and Roderick Leon Edinboro, who attended Sacred Heart Primary School, from where he wrote the Common Entrance Examination in 1999 and gained a place at  Queen’s College (QC).
He sat the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) tests in 2003 and 2004, when he excelled by obtaining five grade ones with four distinctions, before proceeding to the University of Guyana (UG) where he secured a Diploma in Accountancy with distinction.
During the years 2006 to 2009, the petitioner read for his Bachelor of Laws degree and graduated with distinction, then proceeded to the Hugh Wooding Law
School in Trinidad where he studied from 2009 to 2011 and emerged on the Principal’s Roll of Honour with eight As and three Bs.
Edinboro was also the recipient of the Government of Guyana Prize for Best Performance by a student from Guyana at the  Hugh Wooding Law School, the Cameron and Shepherd Prize for Best Performance in Civil Procedure and Procedure One and Civil Practice and Procedure Two by a Guyanese Student, as well as the Anne Blue Scholarship.
He is a member of the Central Assembly of God Church where he volunteers as a teacher at the Vacation Bible School and has completed the Sunday School Training Programme.
After thanking his parents, the judge, his tutors and all those who had been kind to him for their guidance, Edinboro gave the assurance that he would live up to the high traditions of the profession.
