ANDREW Williams, 27, of Lot 35 West La Penitence, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday on two charges of simple larceny.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, it was alleged that, on October 2, he stole one motorcycle valued $185,000 property of Griffith (only name given) and, on October 17, he stole another motorcycle valued $400,000, belonging to Curley Foster.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty, said he is a mechanic and was given $5,000 to do some work on a motorcycle.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said, on October 2, Griffith parked his motorcycle under his house in his yard which is completely fenced and when he awoke the next day it was missing.
The prosecutor said Foster had a similar experience but Griffith received certain information and went to West La Penitence where he found the defendant cleaning his machine and the Police were contacted.
The Prosecutor successfully objected to bail for Williams, who will remain incarcerated until October 24. (Nathalene DeFreitas)
