THE mother of all subjective garbage I have ever encountered is the opening paragraph of the Sunday Stabroek editorial of October 9, 2011. Assuming that it is difficult …. “for the PPP to drum up much excitement when they have been in office for nineteen years”, well, I wish to assure the misguided Sunday Editor that the numbers and supporters are forced by logic to feel aesthetic about the next five years of PPP/C governance; we eagerly look forward to the completion of our Amaila Falls Hydro Power Generation, the deep-water harbour, the electrification of all our major highways, the completion of the ongoing development of the most modern Georgetown Public Hospital, the flowing of oil in offshore wells, the growing advancement towards the connection with the rest of South America, the bridge connecting with Suriname, the move towards more international hotel accommodation, etc.
These are all spectacular, advanced ventures already in the works that will further propel Guyana towards a most modern country. Even the Stabroek News editorship should be experiencing swirling heights of wonderment for the future of our well-governed nation – Guyana.
It is simply sound reasoning to feel assured that, come November 28, the PPP and the rest of Guyana will be celebrating another electoral victory of the national polls.
In the olden years of our ladies’ supremacy on the hockey field, they sang a lovely tune over their successes, and it contained these words “…when you see Guiana coming, you better clear the way, let she pass…”
I have that nostalgic feeling and can just imagine in the current political melee, the words ‘when you see the PPP coming, you better clear the way, let them pass on the way to victory!’
Clear the way for a PPP/C victory
