ATTORNEYS-at-law Keshia Chase and Collis Baveghems were admitted to the Guyana Bar yesterday by Justice Winston Patterson and are now competent to practise their profession in this country.
They were awarded the Legal Education Certificate on September 2, 2011, by the Council of Legal Education.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners, Justice Patterson concluded that the new advents were going to be assets to the profession and urged them to do all in their power to uphold the high traditions of the Bar.
Chase’s petition was presented by Mr. Roysdale Forde, while lawyer Mr. Linden Amsterdam presented the petition on behalf of Baveghems.
Miss Chase attended St. Margaret’s Primary School and Queen’s College to Sixth Form. She was a debator and public speaker in high school.
After attending the University 2006 – 2009, she attended Hugh Wooding Law School from 2009 to 2011.
She is the youngest girl of 13 children.
Baveghems attended St. Adams Primary School, Linden, and Wismar Christianburg Secondary School, where he obtained passes at the CXC.
In 2002 – 2003, he attended Critchlow Labour College, where he obtained a Certificate in Industrial Relations & Social Studies.
In 2003 – 2005 he attended the University of Guyana where he got a Diploma in Public Management. He got his Degree in Law at U.G. in 2009. He then left for Hugh Wooding Law School, earning his Legal Education Certificate this year.
Attorney-at-Law Baveghems had experience as a Revenue Officer 11 – Guyana Revenue Authority, 2005 – 2009.
