Gun robbery accused remanded

NIGEL Wellington (no address given) was, on Monday, remanded to prison on charges of robbery under arms and unlawful possession of gun and ammunition. Before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, one charge said that, on September 24, being armed with a gun, he robbed Patricia McPherson of property valued a total of $179,000.
The other charge said that on the same day, he had a .32 revolver and six live rounds of matching ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges and Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail because of the seriousness of the offences.
Wellington is to return to court on October 17.
