Santos and Conquerors battle for Milo U-23 title tonight

SANTOS and Fruta Conquerors football teams go head-to-head for top honours in the final of the Milo Under-23 Tournament tonight at the Tucville Playfield, as the tournament wraps up with what is expected to be an intriguing double-header.
In the opening showdown of the night which kicks off at 18.00hrs, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) clash with Flamingo as they compete for third place then the contest of the tournament’s top team unfolds from 20:00hrs.

The tournament champions will receive the top prize of $100 000 and the Milo U-23 Trophy, the runners-up will have to settle for $75 000 while the third- and fourth-place finishers will cart off $50 000 and $25 000 respectively, along with trophies.
In the semi-final round on Friday night, Santos drilled the Police team 5-0 in the curtain-raiser then Fruta Conquerors hammered Flamingo 4-1 in the feature match.
Earlier in the night, Colin Harris stunned GPF with a hat-trick as he recorded goals in the 15th, 33rd and 51st minutes.
Santos led 3-0 at the half-time whistle with Lerone Charles scoring in the 21st minute. The second half saw Charles and his team mate Trevon Lewis (69th) scoring to take the goal tally to five at the regulation time whistle.
Following that showdown, Travis Hackette’s success as early as the eighth minute then one in the 14th, along with a goal each from Pernel Schultz (50th) and Marco Marcus (75th) were more than enough to overpower Flamingo’s consolation goal. (Kizan Brumell)
