Family pleading for return of baby’s mother, 17

THE mother and relatives of 17-year-old Tamata Sugrim are pleading with the relevant authorities to help bring her back home to her 19 month old baby girl. The teenager left her Lot 49 High Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown home, on Tuesday, September 20, to make a purchase but failed to return.
According to the teen’s mother, Veneeta Samalall, the missing teen had informed her younger brothers of her mission before leaving but hours went by and she  did not show up .
Her mother said:“I left her home on Tuesday with her daughter, Nerisha. Around four the afternoon, I got a call from my sons that, when they came home from school, she was dressed and she told them she was going to the store to get something.”
She said her sons became curious when they observed that their sister had taken her National Identification Card and Birth Certificate and, upon enquiring what was the purpose of taking them, she said they were required to make the purchase possible.
“She told them that she just found $3,000 and she was going to buy something and  needed her documents to buy the item. One of her brothers followed her out of the house but she requested that he go back inside and watch the baby,” Samalall said.
Another brother, returning from school, went to meet her but she bought a drink and gave him to take back into he house and she disappeared, their mother related.
The mother told this newspaper t it is still unclear, to her, why her daughter left home   because she is unaware of any issues or problems that the girl might be facing.
“She really did not have any problem with anybody,” her mother insisted.
Samalall said she contacted all of the family members and everyone to whom she might have gone has given a negative answer.
She is, however, suspicious about several phone calls from a female asking about the  relationship she and her daughter shared .
“Every time I try to find out more the phone cuts off .  All the woman told me was that she is calling from Bourda Market,” Samalall disclosed.
She also revealed that a man who knows her, said he saw her daughter in a market  but, when she went there, the girl had already left.
She said she searched the market, asking almost everyone and showing them her daughter’s photograph and some of the vendors indicated that they had seen her wearing the same jeans but a different top.
The Family is pleading with members of the public and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to assist with any information that may lead to the absconded girl also known as  Ameena.
Family Members can be contacted on telephone numbers 693-9204, 612-4781,678-8536 or through the nearest police station.
