GRC assists victims of Enmore, Hadfield Street fires

THE Guyana Relief Council has provided assistance to seven families who were left homeless as a result of fires at Hadfield Street, Werk-en-Rust, and from Enmore, East Coast Demerara.

Those affected by the tragedy include Doris Balkissoon, a member of the family from Enmore, and Sunnita Johannis, Nadia Yamin, Patrick Ramsar, Michael Hackett, Shelly Hope and Emalita Thompson of Hadfield Street.

The GRC is ever mindful of the immediate and specific needs of person affected by fires and other disasters, and tailor the donations to satisfy those needs.

In some instances, recipients are given building material, tools of trade, and, in particular cases, capital to restart their businesses.

This year the council has provided assistance to 110 cases comprising 449 persons.

The Guyana Relief Council is a charitable orgnisation mandated to provide material support to persons who suffer from natural or man-made disasters.
