Guyanese-born Canada’s Most-Wanted fugitive nabbed in Toronto

TORONTO SUN – A violent convict who was one of Canada’s “most wanted” was arrested by border officials in the Toronto area yesterday morning. Shameer Allie, a 36-year-old Guyanese national with numerous criminal convictions in Canada, was arrested by the Immigration Task Force in Etobicoke without incident, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.
Allie was among the CBSA’s recently released list of names and photos of foreign fugitives hiding in Canada.
The list is a selection of men among a group of 1,400 dangerous criminals without immigration status who are believed to be hiding in Canada.
With a Canada-wide warrant out for his arrest, Allie was being hunted for “a number of criminal convictions,” including violence and weapons-related offences.
A tip to the CBSA website led to his arrest, the agency said.
The CBSA has initiated deportation proceedings.
