EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD Sherwin Halley called ‘Kusum’, of Lot 46 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was ordered to post $100,000 bail yesterday, on a rape charge.
Before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, in New Amsterdam Court, he was charged, indictably, with having penetrative sex with a high school student on June 24 last at Tucber Park, also in New Amsterdam. The magistrate also stipulated that the unemployed accused must not go within 300 yards of the alleged victim.
The police allegation is that Halley and the girl were having a sexual encounter in a parked motor car outside her home.
The case will be called, again, on October 14.
