Special Prosecutor absent…

PI Neesa Gopaul murder case postponed
THE preliminary inquiry (PI) in the Neesa Gopaul murder case was postponed, again, yesterday due to the absence of the Special Prosecutor.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, holding the brief for Ms. Prithima Kissoon, prosecuting, applied for the postponement, on the ground that the latter is out of the jurisdiction.
The proceedings will resume on September 28 and continue on October 3 and 4, the magistrate ruled.
On the last occasion, Defence Counsel Vic Puran, for accused Bibi Shareema Gopaul, was opposing the admissibility of a deposition.
Gopaul, mother of the victim and her stepfather, Jarvis Small, are charged with unlawfully killing the former Queen’s Collage (QC) student between September 24 and October 2, 2010.
The girl’s dead body was recovered along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, stuffed in a suitcase in Madewini Creek near Emerald Tower Resort, battered almost beyond recognition.
