Bartica hit by storm

-electricity supply cut off
AT approximately 14:00 hrs yesterday there was a storm in Bartica. The heavy rainfall and high velocity winds lasted about half an hour causing damage to the pavilions on the beach and utility poles around First Street.

Many telephone and power lines were left hanging on the roads. Zinc sheets and other debris were blown into the streets and on the beach.
Guyana Power and Light and the Regional Democratic Council responded urgently and were later in the day carrying out remedial works to restore power to the town.
