WHILE it is true that most of what is being revealed by WiliLeaks are mere speculation and opinions, it must be acknowledged too that in some cases the speculation and opinions are informed ones based on circumstantial evidence.
In this regard, the speculation about Glenn Lall is a typical example. Mr. Lall rose from shoe seller in Stabroek Market to big businessman and the owner of a large newspaper. Now no one is envious of Mr. Lall’s progress, but commonsense would cause eyebrows to be raised when extreme movement takes place, that is from a simple stallholder to a big businessman in a relatively short time.
He has been accused of having senior police ranks on his payroll. And there was the tragic shooting of his employees in mafia style. On to now the true motive of the killings is not known but anyone familiar with the workings of the mafia could figure it out for himself/herself. And there is an allegation of the infamous criminal “Blackie” London taking out revenge on his family because of a sour deal. So when the speculation is made about his possible links to the underworld it takes into consideration a series of allegations which could br inter-related or not.
