CAC trained over 1000 young people so far THE inclusion of young people on issues of societal and national development is a critical step to any country. Over the years, and with increasing frequency, opportunities have been created to target this sector of the population.
Impress Youth Expo and Conference saw youths from all walks of life interacting with various government and private sector officials, and among themselves, as they expressed their views of how to develop Guyana.
The Citizen Security Programme-Community Action Component participated in the event and informed the youths of career opportunities. Thousands of youths from across Guyana turned out at the Impress Youth Expo and Conference where they benefited from innovative empowerment opportunities.
The Youth Expo provided an interactive environment where young people highlighted their issues, had them addressed and developed a better understanding of key government strategies and polices.
Since the Community Action Component of the CSP is heavily focused on training youths, mainly school drop outs, with a basic skill to enable them to secure employment, the booth saw displays of pieces of the acquired skill and heavily showcased what they have already learnt.
Some displays included electrical installation, garment construction, cosmetology, joinery, food preparation and cake decorating.
The CAC is active in ten communities in Regions 4 and 6 and has so far trained over 1,000 young people in various skills to enhance employment opportunities, while, at the same time, creating safe neighbourhoods.
