THE Education Ministry fulfilled a promise on Friday made to National Grade Six Assessment (NGAS), 2011 top student Terron Randolph Alleyne when the deputy permanent secretary, Delma Nedd presented him with a cheque valued $25,000. According to a release issued from the Ministry of Education, the presentation was made at the minister’s office at 26 Brickdam, Georgetown, where the young man was praised by the ministry for his outstanding performance.
“We at the Ministry of Education are proud of your exceptional achievement. Scoring 537 marks out of a possible score of 552 and achieving the top position in the country is a noteworthy accomplishment. You have proven what Aristotle said when he mentioned that ‘we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit’. You have risen to the top and credit must be given to you for your hard work, commitment and dedication. You have made your region, school, family, teachers and all those who have supported you proud.
“The Ministry of Education takes great pleasure in presenting to you today, a monetary award in recognition of your outstanding performance. We encourage you to keep up the excellent work and continue to be an exemplar for children throughout this country. Congratulations! We wish you all success in life,” the note concluded.
