Eight Expo competition winners rewarded with Kaieteur trips

THE Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, last Saturday, rewarded eight lucky winners of two recent competitions, with trips to Kaieteur Falls.
Rosanna Bisnauth, Nicola Douglas and S. Singh Yadram, who answered questions on Guyana’s tourism product at this year’s Second Annual Building Expo and Samantha Headecker, Emzo Gibbons, Allan Bakker, Mark Yangaprashad and Rafeena Ramdihal, who won at the Seventh Annual Berbice Expo.
A release said the Ministry and Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) are committed to promoting staycation (domestic tourism) and ensuring that the Guyanese populace can explore and experience the beauty of their homeland.
The 55-minute journey, from the Ogle International Airport to Kaieteur National Park, afforded the group the opportunity to enjoy the aerial view of Guyana’s pristine forest and landscape, the release stated.
It said the group was enthralled by the Falls’ explosive display of nature’s power cascading 226 metres (741 feet) in a sheer drop, which is situated on the Potaro River and is within the Kaieteur National Park, Guyana’s first national park occupying a prominent position in the centre of the Guiana Shield, roughly two billion years old and considered the Earth’s oldest surface.
The group also extended thanks to the Tourism Ministry and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Mr. Manniram Prashad, for providing them with the wonderful opportunity to visit Kaieteur.
