David Granger versus Donald Ramotar? No contest. Donald is champ

I openly challenge the letter (July 21, 2011 KNEWS), penned by Adel Lilly. In his/her seemingly hasty missive, he/she flippantly heaped accolades on David Granger, while conversely, he/she sought to denigrate Donald Ramotar. The entire little episode reeks of nastiness, as it really is a poor effort in propagandizing. The petite and paltry piece is most unsubstantiated. First, I think that it is quite ethical of Mr. Donald Ramotar to posit questions regarding Mr. David Granger. The erstwhile Brigadier may have been distinguished in service and in accomplishment – MSS, MSM, Efficiency Medal, BDM. But I ask, to whom has he offered his service? Certainly not Guyana. The ‘great soldier’ never fought a war; he is not known for benevolence; he is still to offer at least an explanation for his role in being LFS Burnham’s henchman; and even amidst all the furore, he has not said a proper word regarding the killing of ‘ballot box martyrs’ from Berbice. So I see Adel’s ‘great’ Brigadier as being part of our country’s dark history. Now for a look at the flip side and the ‘other man.’
Adel is claiming that Mr. Ramotar’s notoriety is based solely on his membership and subsequent leadership of one of the most repressive political movements in the English-speaking Caribbean – the PPP. Now what a statement! The fact that an Adel can make such a statement is most contradictory. If there were even a verisimilitude of truth in the utterance, then the very medium of the attack, the K/NEWS, would have been obliterated. One can add that Adel is not just in a vexatious delirium, but may be quite steeped in jealous rage, knowing that his /her latent and harboured evil will never bear fruit.  And here I suggest you read what Terry Bascom intimated in his letter, a few weeks back titled: ‘Bottom of the Social Ladder.’ Ramotar may not have been a Boy Scout, but he has worked tirelessly to provide the priceless ‘Freedom of Expression’ that is now enjoyed and abused by PPP/C haters. So, yes, he has authority – moral rectitude. That is what counts.
Now, Brigadier Granger is not coming to the political scene at a time when his country is in desperate need of patriots and skill. He is coming at a time when people with ‘bloody hands’ should be called to account. The great good of the late Dr. Cheddi Jagan, in declaring ‘No recrimination’ seems to be, for many, an opportunity to resurface. And as regards bloody periods in Guyana, how come there is no mention of ‘The House of Israel’ and ‘The Jonestown Massacre?’ I also suggest that there be some kind of investigation into the slaying of Dr. Walter Rodney. Who was a big ‘dude’ in the GDF Army then?  Answer please.
