Zimbabwe ease past Bangladesh

BRIAN Vitori and Vusi Sibanda were the stars for Zimbabwe once again as they beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in the second one-day international in Harare in what was a near carbon copy of Friday’s game. Having taken five on debut as his side won the first match of this five-game series, Vitori repeated the feat with figures of five for 20 from his 9.3 overs as Bangladesh were dismissed for 188.
It means in two games the left-arm seamer has equalled the Zimbabwean record for five-wicket hauls in ODIs.
Sibanda then followed up his 96 on Friday with 67 as Zimbabwe reached their victory target with 5.5 overs remaining to establish a 2-0 lead in this five-game series.
Vitori and Elton Chigumbura (two for 35) helped reduce the tourists to 58 for six at one stage before Nasir Hossain (63) shared in stands of 53 with Shakib Al Hasan (26) and 65 with Abdur Razzak (35).
Vitori then returned to finish off the innings and, though Zimbabwe lost captain Brendan Taylor in the third over of their reply, they never looked like failing to reach their modest victory target.
Sibanda shared stands of 83 with Hamilton Masakadza (38) and 59 with Tatenda Taibu (61no).
When Sibanda finally fell, stumped by Mushfiqur Rahim off the bowling of Mohammad Ashraful, Taibu – whose 50 came up courtesy of a seven as he ran three and was gifted four overthrows – put his side over the line by pulling Ashraful for four. (PA Sport)
