FORMER Minister of Human Services and Social Security Ms Bibi Shadick recently fulfilled her promise by donating a wheelchair to Ms Rehana Razack of Lot 368 Stanleytown, Inner Canal Number 2 Polder, West Bank Demerara. According to her mother, the 39-year-old Razack was born deformed on both legs and was treated at the Georgetown hospital since birth.
She subsequently had an operation on both legs but was diagnosed with spinal injuries resulting in her being unable to walk.
The mother said that even though Rehana is severely handicapped, she eats and does every other thing by herself.
Witnessing the handing over of the wheelchair was Region Three Chairman Mr Julius Faerber and Attorney-at-Law Mr Sase Gunraj who made the donation on behalf of Shadick.
Faerber said the gesture was as a result of a request made by the recipient’s mother at a recently held community meeting.
