THE SON of chartered account and talk-show host, Christopher Ram, has threatened to “eliminate” websites that have been discussing his family’s business. An email to the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPPC) mailbox, purported to have been sent by Ravendra Ram from Winter Gardens, Florida stated that the younger Ram is “annoyed” that a known PPP/C activist has been publicly disclosing information regarding his father and their personal business.
The email reads: “I am annoyed that one of your operatives, Kwame McCoy, has been revealing highly sensitive information about me and my family. The leaking of the Divorce Affidavit of my mom Ena Ram and dad Christopher Ram is vindictive. I hope to let you know that me and Freddie Kissoon are taking matters in our own hands to eliminate those websites that are discussing about my dad’s affairs. Why can’t you let my dad do his dealings in peace?”
Young Ram said he will be teaming up with several other known anti-government personnel to bring down several websites, including that of the PPP/C.
“I will seek the help of Mark Benschop in eliminating your PPP websites, The Mirror, Liveinguyana and Skunts Guyana. I hope you get this message clear… Me and Christopher Ram are getting serious with this situation. You know how much embarrassment you have caused on me, my siblings and the rest of my family?” the email added.
Asked to comment on the matter, McCoy said via email: “I have too much important work that deserves my attention to be distracted by a Ram. Maybe the least I can do is refer his (Ram’s) case to the animal health practitioners at the local livestock agency.”
Though efforts to reach Ram Jnr. have proven futile, a close associate of his has said that while he is not confirming the email was sent by the US-based youngster, he had complained to him on several occasions that there are a number of blogs in Guyana seemingly aligned to the ruling party which have been releasing sensitive information to the public about matters relating to his family.
Said the colleague: “I am not sure if it’s an email from Chris, but what I do know is that he raised these concerns with me before while we talked, and he seemed very upset. I advised him to stay clear of this, since he has his own life to live, and [that] if his parents made decisions, sometime or the other, it will get out in the public.
Meanwhile, a source close to the PPP has said the threat will be reported to the police, and that efforts are also being made to authenticate the source of the email, even though it has already been established that the email was sent from a Florida IP Address.
The source also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to establish whether the hacking of the Government Information Agency (GINA) and Office of the President (OP) websites a few months ago might have been orchestrated by Ravendra Ram.
