PPP extends sympathy to grieving families of those killed in Monday’s accident

THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has extended deepest sympathy to the grieving families of those killed in Monday’s horrific accident on Homestretch Avenue in the City in which five persons died and several others were injured and hospitalized. In a statement following the accident, the party also extended best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured and hospitalized.

The PPP said it is very aggrieved at the loss of lives in yet another accident on our roads.

“Reports at this time suggest that the cause of this accident was speeding. Indeed police reports suggest that this is the major cause of accidents on our roads,” the PPP said in a statement.

“It is tragic that so many families and friends of the victims have been plunged into grief by what appears to be irresponsibility of the bus driver,” the party lamented.

The People’s Progressive Party wishes to urge all drivers, in particular drivers of public transport, to remember that they have a great responsibility for the lives of their passengers and road users generally.

“We also wish to urge commuters of minibuses to speak up and urge drivers to conduct themselves in a responsible manner and discourage them from speeding,” the PPP said.
