IN LESS than 24 hours after being nominated into office, the Ramsay Ali-led Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) held its first executive meeting Monday night, in which the various committees were formed to help oversee the affairs of cricket in Guyana.
Discarded West Indies opener Travis Dowlin along with former national youth off-spinner Sean Devers has been included on the Cricket Development Committee, while former national Under-19 skipper Andre Percival is a member of the Junior Selection panel.
The list of Committees with their respective members reads as follows:
Cricket Development Committee: Alfred Mentore (Chairman), Dru Bahadur (Secretary), Travis Dowlin, Sean Devers, Reon King (GCB Cricket Development Officer), Robin Singh (GCB Video Analyst), Talim Karimulla, Muthuswammi Permaul, representative from the Blind Cricket Association, Chairmen of the CDCs of the County Boards and a representative from the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council (GCUC).
Marketing and Fund Raising Committee: Troy Mendonca (Chairman), Ramsay Ali, Dru Bahadur, Rajendra Singh, Naim Chan, Paul ‘DJ Stress’ Bonar and the Marketing Manager of the County Boards.
Senior Selectors: Reyon Griffith (Chairman), Adrian Amsterdam and Rabindranauth Seeram with the Junior Selection Committee being made up of Nazimul Drepaul (Chairman), Atto Christiani and Andre Percival.
Competitions Committee: Colin Europe (Chairman), Dru Bahadur (Secretary), Maylene Ramdular, two representatives of the County Boards’ Competitions Committee, a representative of the GCUC.
Disciplinary Committee: K. A. Juman-Yassin (Chairman), Terry Holder and Steven Lewis while Holder, vice-president Faizul Bacchus and the GCB’s Secretary Anand Sanasie will handle the reports submitted to the GCB before handing same over to the Disciplinary Committee.
The GCB’s representatives to the WICB reads: Ramsay Ali and Anand Sanasie with Faizul Bacchus and Alfred Mentore being the alternate representatives.
Ali will chair the Umpires Committee which also includes Europe and a representative from the GCUC, while Anand Kalladeen, who is the newly elected Treasurer, will head the Finance Committee that also includes Ali, Sanasie, Mendonca and present Administrator of the GCB Savitri Persaud.
The GCB Executives also named Vice-president Faizal Bacchus and Assistant Secretary Dru Bahadur along with Attorney-at-Law Andrew Pollard to constitute a committee which will immediately look into the Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) matter.
Their “terms of reference” includes interviewing of all stakeholders and a review of all documentation available, with the committee being tasked to report to the Executive committee on or before the next meeting is convened on August 19, 2011.
