Suitable home needed for foundling

HEALTH Minister Dr.Leslie Ramsammy is working closely with the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security to find a suitable home for the newborn baby that was discovered by a passerby at the Merriman’s Mall last Tuesday.
He assured this newspaper that the baby was well and in perfect health.

The minister pointed out that since the incident, the Georgetown Public Hospital has received numerous phone calls about the possibility of adopting the baby.

The minister said, “Staff at the hospital has fallen in love with this baby; he has now become the joy of the nurses and doctors; they know that he will have to leave some time, and it will be hard for them because of the relationship they have established”.
The infant, wrapped in a jersey, was found at Merriman’s Mall at about 21:00hrs last Tuesday and was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit at the hospital.
Minister Ramsammy is pleading with persons incapable of dealing with new born babies to seek assistance from the Georgetown Public Hospital, and not just abandon the infants.
