Musical treat at NCC tonight

PATRONS of the Arts can expect to lose themselves in an afternoon of beautiful music as ‘Musicians on stage’ work their magic this afternoon at the National Cultural Centre.
As usual, the grand recital and prize-giving event is hosted by the Guyana Music Teachers Association (GMTA) and will feature students who sat the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (RSM).

GMTA Secretary, Mrs. Marilyn Dewar said yesterday that most of the featured performers this year are young and will include winners of the Guyana Music Festival held earlier in the year.
Featured attractions will include Distinction at Violin Awardee Malcolm Sparman; Highest Marks Overall Awardee, Jason Klass; Vocal Championship under-15 winner, Annmarie Gomes; Piano Duet Winners, Jaamal Skeete and Keane Simon; and Action Song Winners, the pupils of Winfer Garden Primary School.
Champion of the Verse Speaking Category at the Guyana Music Festival, Nicholas Elliot, will also be exhibiting his special skill at the event.
Other attractions include performances by the Guyana Police Force Band and the National School of Dance.
At the event, trophies and prizes will be presented to those students who would have passed their RSM exams with distinction and merit.
Tickets, which cost $800 for adults and $400 for children, are available from any member of the Guyana Music Teachers Association and at Dewar’s School of Music, 221 Charlotte Street, Bourda.
