Guyana to send 29-member team to participate in 4th ALBA Games in Venezuela

A 29-MEMBER team will be representing Guyana at the 4th Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) Games in Venezuela, July 18-29, in  different states of the neighbouring country. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony made this disclosure at a press conference held at his ministry yesterday and also announced seven officials will accompany the team.
He noted that the games will  provide a good opportunity for Guyana’s sports personalities since they will have a chance to compete at the international level. There will be wide participation from South American countries.
Minister Anthony also noted that the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG)  has undertaken a selection process to determine the athletes who will participate in various sports disciplines. 
He said the competition will help to foster closer relations among the South American countries.
Athletes will compete in 41 disciplines in the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Cojedes, Capital District, Lara, Miranda, Portuguesa, Yaracuy and Vargas. (GINA).
