$100,000 bail for larceny

ERROL Adams (no address given) yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry charged with larceny.
Adams pleaded not guilty to the offense and particulars stated that on June 23, at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, he stole one video camera valued at $80,000, one Laptop worth $50,000, and a passport, along with other items, all valued at $200,000, property of Shridat Eknauth.

Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunte, prosecuting, said that on the day in question, the virtual complainant parked his motor vehicle with the articles near the M&M Snackette and went into the eatery. When Eknauth returned to his vehicle, he found the articles missing. He reported the matter and the passport was found in the defendant’s possession.
The prosecutor had no objection to bail and this was granted in the sum of $100,000.
The matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate Court for tomorrow.
