Garbage, mosquito woes in South Ruimveldt Gardens

IT is with great concern that I bring this disturbing matter to the public’s attention in the hope that the relevant authority will take corrective action.
South Ruimveldt Gardens is generally known to be a very quiet and organized community where members cooperate to ensure the safety and well-being of all of the inhabitants.
As of late, however, this state of well being is under attack by assailants emanating from the three weeks of uncollected garbage that lurks on every property, on every street in the community.
At night, inhabitants are overwhelmed by the incessant attack of mosquitoes that invades their homes and instead of enjoying the cool night’s breeze, the rotting, festering scent of rubbish assaults the senses and sends everyone cowering in disgust.
During the day, it gets worse as the flies assume their shift in the seemingly never-ending assault.
If this situation were not bad enough, when it rains this area is one of the first to become inundated and when this happens the floating evidence of last week’s dinner; an empty can of peas or a pile of potato pee further pollute the surrounding water.
This is not to say that we do not dispose of our garbage in the proper manner, but after three garbage bins are filled to capacity, it will overflow.
We are decent, law abiding, tax paying citizens and we deserve the right to live comfortably in our homes, in our community, without fear of disease or pestilence lurking at every corner.
As residents in this otherwise pleasant community, we are demanding that the Mayor and City Council or the Ministry of Local Government intervenes in whatever way seems best before there is a deadly outbreak of disease.
