TWENTY FOUR year old Odinga Chase and twenty five year old Shaka Chase of Lot 169 East Ruimveldt, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on Tuesday, jointly charged with attempted murder. The two brothers were not allowed to plea to the indictable charge which stated that, on June 6, at ‘Wild Palm Disco’, they discharged a loaded firearm with intent to murder Sherlock Fifi.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said that on the day in question the virtual complainant went into the said disco to buy a Mackeson beverage and accidently spilled it on Odinga. This resulted in an argument. She added that while in the argument, Odinga shot the virtual complainant in his left eye.
Pindar said the virtual complainant was then taken to the hospital. Intense investigations were carried out and the two men were arrested.
The prosecutor objected to bail but the accused were granted a sum of $400,000, bail by the magistrate.
The matter was transferred to court 5 before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
