PLEASE permit me to briefly express my appreciation to Dr. Tota Mangar for his lucid article (GC, June 17, 2011) on the Enmore Martyrs for non-historians like me.

The behaviour of our former European masters clearly demonstrate a tragic case of “man’s inhumanity to man”.  We should be willing to adopt a Gandhian philosophy in forgiving our European masters but we owe it ourselves to never forget what they did to our ancestors.

It was noted that the bodies of Rambarran, Lall called Pooran, Lallabagie Kissoon, Surujballi called Dookie and Harry were eventually laid to rest at the Le Repentir cemetery.

Isn’t it time that the remains of Rambarran, Lall called Pooran, Lallabagie Kissoon, Surujballi called Dookie be exhumed from the Le Repentir cemetery and brought back to Enmore where they were brutally gunned down by our former tyrannical European masters? I respectfully request the President, His Excellency Dr. Bharat Jagdeo to address this issue.
