(EUROSPORT)-Omar Narvaez made another successful defence of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) super flyweight title with a unanimous points win over William Urina in Buenos Aires Saturday night.
Thirty-five (35) year-old Narvaez put in a controlled performance against the late replacement from Colombia, doing the better work throughout the contest in front of his home crowd, as all three judges awarded him the bout by the same scoreline – 117-110 after 12 rounds.
Urina, who took the fight on two weeks’ notice, rarely troubled the champion and never looked like keeping his unbeaten record intact, slipping to 17-1 while Narvaez improved to 35-0 with two draws.
Austin Trout put in a similarly dominant performance to defeat David Lopez and retain his World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight belt at the Auditorio Miguel Barragan in Mexico.
The judges scored the fight 119-109, 117-110 and 118-109 in favour of the American, whose career record now stands at 23 victories and no defeats.
Lopez had his moments, catching Trout with shots to the face, but he was on the back foot for most of the contest, not least in the final rounds when Trout pushed to finish the contest with a knockout.
