…final interview will determine if they were helped
IT Specialist Kevin Sukhdeo explained that while there is nothing technologically built into the Mastermind online game to ensure that it is the students and not their parents providing the answers and scoring the points, the final interview before the prize-giving should give ample proof of the child’s capacities and capabilities and confirm whether the recognition was merited. Sukhdeo, one of the main people responsible for the creation of the Mastermind Quiz Corner, said that, for now, the only way to ensure that it is the child playing the game and getting the answers is to have webcams connected to the computers. He said while webcams and other peripheries are to be considered in the future for the game’s enhancement, the mechanisms to address privacy and other considerations still have to be worked out.
“During the final interview for the prize-giving, we will conduct an interview with the child. We may put them to answer some of the game questions. But we believe children at that age would tend to be honest and say whether or not they received help,” Sukhdeo said.
Further, with a view to add levity to what is considered serious and tedious activity, the game’s management has decided to add a brainteaser section. This is meant to allow the child to use his or her intelligence to find concealed questions and work out their answers, earning themselves possibly additional points or prizes.
Students should play their own game
