GLTA says thanks to Pegasus

THE Guyana Tennis Association (GLTA) showed its appreciation to the Pegasus Hotel and the late David Persaud for their sterling contributions to the sport of tennis over the years, on Wednesday afternoon, with a presentation ceremony at the Pegasus Hotel.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pegasus, Robert Badal,
received the plaque presented by the GLTA in recognition of the steadfast support the Hotel has provided with the staging of its annual Tennis Open for over 20 years and more recently with the free use of the courts for training camps for tennis players.
Christopher Persaud received the plaque which honoured the contributions by his late father David Persaud who was a stalwart in the tennis community.
The elder Persaud was a familiar figure on the Pegasus Courts for over 20 years as he engaged in epic tennis matches with his colleagues and friends in the tennis community.
“Skipper”, as he was fondly called, always had the interest of tennis at heart and his selfless contributions over the years helped with the development of many young players, whether it was donating racquets or gear to promising players or  helping with covering the expenses for overseas trips when tournaments arose.
Dr  Arthur Hazelwood who resides in the U.S. was also honoured with a plaque for his contributions to tennis over the years, specifically for covering the association’s subscription fees every year to the ITF and providing gear to help in the development of the sport locally.
