The influx of artistes from the Caribbean and elsewhere are coming to Guyana regular to perform. One of the main reasons I write this letter is to comment on this particular artiste – Little Avinash Maharaj. It is disgusting and annoying to see a small school age child on stage with that kind of mature performance. Isn’t he a school child. Is he working by performing at his age? He needs to be performing with his books, lessons, school etc. And don’t tell us he is a bright boy, and have all grade ‘A’s etc, etc.
How can authorities allow a small child to be among such shows, performing like a big man on stage? Maybe the promoters are thinking he will also bring out the young ones like himself to the show. Is it for more profit? Let that child get his normal child-life and stop him asking the thousands of Guyanese, late into the night to ‘make some noise’.
Mr Editor, these artistes are returning very, very regular to Guyana, since they are getting the biggest crowds here. Can we imagine out of the blues, singer from Holland? Yes they are seeing the crowds. A lot of profit from off the Guyanese and yet we Guyanese complain things hard, things bad, money in deh. We need to be careful and get conscious of what is going on when these artistes are coming into our country in droves from all over ‘suddenly’ to perform.
