Two friends perish in horrific accident

TWO friends perished while another is critical following a horrific accident on Tuesday night on the Vergenoegen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
Dead are Tameshwar Persaud, 27, of Lot 17 Cornelia Ida Public Road, West Coast Demerara, and minibus conductor, Davindra Kaimragge called  “Anil”, 20 of Anna Catherina Bus Shed Street, also on the West Coast Demerara.
Injured is Derick Lewis, who was driving the other vehicle, a Spacio HB 8575, and is in a critical condition.

Police reported that they are investigating the accident which occurred at about 23:00 hrs. Investigations have revealed motor vehicles PLL 9826 and HB 8575 were proceeding along the Vergenoegen Public Road in opposite direction when they collided. As a result, of the collision Tameshwar Persaud, who was driving PLL 9826, and occupant, Kaimragge received injuries. They were taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Derick Lewis, who was driving HB 8575, also received injuries and was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he has been admitted a patient in a serious condition.

Persaud’s grieving sister, Nadine Persaud told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that the last time she spoke to her sibling via the telephone on Tuesday night about 23:00 hrs he told her that he was on his way home.
She added that the next thing she received a call stating he was involved in an accident.
The unmarried man was the driver of his Toyota AT192 motor car named“Manish Puppy” at the time of the incident.

At his home yesterday his sister (only sibling) was being comforted by relatives, who showed up at his residence as they discussed the tragic accident which claimed the life of their loved one.
Meanwhile, at the home of Davindra Kaimragge tear-filled faces relatives including his siblings and his mother sat under a shed as tables and chairs were being off loaded from a canter truck in preparation for a wake yesterday evening.
The mother of Davindra Kaimragge, Kaimragge Azeez told the Guyana Chronicle that she was at home when she received a phone call that her son was involved in an accident and he was at the Lenora Cottage Hospital but by the time she reached there he had already succumbed to his injuries.

She described her son as a very outgoing and friendly person, who had lots of friends.
The grieving woman added that her son returned home from work on Tuesday afternoon and told her he was going to Parika, East Bank Essequibo with friends and it was the last time she saw him alive.
He is survived by three siblings, his mother and scores of relatives.
At the scene of the accident yesterday Persaud’s mangled car was being loaded into a truck while the badly damaged Spacio was on the parapet at Vergenoegen Public Road as curious onlookers and passersby gathered to get a peek at the vehicles.
