SHAWN Gill (no address given) has been charged with the fraudulent conversion of a borrowed Blackberry phone. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday and pleaded not guilty to the May 29 offence, particulars of which said, having been solely entrusted with the $120,000 instrument, by Shonelle Olives, he, fraudulently, converted it to his own use and benefit.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said that the virtual complainant and the defendant are known to each other and that Olives would, usually, lend Gill her phone.
However, on that day, when the owner asked him for the phone, Gill was unable produce it.
He was ordered to post $100,000 bail until June 21.
