THE Guyana Softball League (GSL) recently donated a number of trophies to the people of Hogg Island, in keeping with its aim to develop softball cricket throughout the length and breadth of Guyana. In presenting the trophies, treasurer of the GSL, Selena Azeez, remarked that it is the aim of the body to ensure that all communities develop to a high standard and be competitive in the sport and he hopes that one day a champion can come from the Island.
The organisation is hoping that others can take example and provide assistance as the people strive to ensure that recreation is provided on a more consistent basis.
The recipient, on behalf of the organisers, thanked the GSL and remarked that this will go a long way in encouraging the people of Hogg Island to participate in softball competitions and consequently help them live a healthy lifestyle.
The organisation will be making more contributions to far-flung areas so that competitive softball cricket can be played in their communities.
