Feminition 2011 a huge success

-despite efforts by detractors to stymie the process
Feminition 2011, which has been deemed a success, received widespread support and congratulations from Cabinet as well as the general public, despite efforts by detractors to stymie the success of the event.
This is according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, during a post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday at the Office of the President.
The HPS added that the explicit act of promotion of women’s empowerment by the People’s Progressive Party/Civic administration dominated the contribution during the three-day expo at the National Stadium, Providence.
“Cabinet noted the widespread support by women, women’s organisations and the general public. The few public and critical comments by detractors seemed insecure, since no one has contested the importance, primacy of women’s empowerment. However, Cabinet noted that there were causes for making the event an annual one,” Dr. Luncheon said.
Feminition was conceptualised after women producers across the country made representation for such an event. Government also injected $15M into the exposition which also attracted  support from corporate entities.
The administration, through the aegis of the Human Services Ministry, has recognised the role women play in society, and as such, has been investing huge sums to bring about equality between the genders.  (GINA)
