Fatima take MA Inter-house title

FATIMA House maintained their lead to come out victorious in the recently held Marian Academy Primary School Inter-House round robin badminton tournament which culminated on Tuesday at the school’s badminton court.
Starting the final day on nine points, Fatima added six more to end with 15 points, nine more than the second-placed team Coromoto, with Lourdes and Guadalupe on four and one point each, rounding off the top four teams in the tournament that was played at both the Primary and Secondary levels.
In the Primary category of the competition, Coromoto defeated Guadalupe four-nil, thanks to Joshua Singh and Leah Lachmansingh who defeated Keon Ramjit and Angelie Balram 21-10 and 21-5 respectively in the Boys’ and Girls’ singles competition.
Leah then teamed up with Adriel Lachmansingh to defeat Angelie Balram and Kristen Alleyne 21-12 in the Girls’ Doubles, before Joshua Singh and Adriel Lachmansingh teamed up to take the Mixed Doubles from Jahleel Young and Kristen Alleyne 21-9.
In the Secondary School category, Fatima defeated Lourdes four-nil, thanks to victories that were recorded by Jonathan Hohenkirk (Boys’ singles), Emma Vieira (Girls’ singles), Hohenkirk and Narayan Ramdhani (Boys’ doubles) and Ramdhani and Emma Bieira (mixed doubles).
Lourdes defeated Guadalupe two-nil with Joseph Leo and Angelica Da Silva scoring victories over Jonathan Mangra and Leah Farinha in the Boys’ and Girls’ singles competition, before Fatima defeated Guadalupe by the same margin, thanks to Ronald Yuen and Emma Vieira who defeated Jonathan Mangra and Leah Farinha respectively.
