ANOTHER Linden Taxi driver has died under mysterious circumstances and sleuths from Georgetown were deployed to the mining town for the investigations into the Thursday killing.
The death of Curtis Texwayne Duncan, 30, recalled memories of Damian ‘Pointer‘ Lindore, who was, apparently, executed and placed to make it appear that he was the victim of an accident on the night of Independence Day exactly one year ago.
In this instance, Duncan was shot in his car, motor car, HB 1804, by a gunman dressed in all white and the vehicle, subsequently, became engulfed in flames at South Amelia’s Ward.
Eyewitnesses said Duncan, of Lot 106 Silvertown, Wismar, was seen in his vehicle at an area called the ‘The Crease’. Three persons, two males and one female, approached and the one in all white did the shooting.
The car reversed into some bush and, with the engine being accelerated, burst into flames, said one unnamed man, who shouted for his uncle to render assistance.
Another person, who went to the scene, said he heard an explosion and it sounded like a squib. But, upon seeing a bright light in the bush and realising a vehicle was there, he rushed to ascertain what help he could render. However, the exhaust started to make a funny sound and he, thinking it was going to explode, retreated and just watched, helplessly, as the car went up in flames.
A youngster on his way home, about 19:45 hrs, hid and saw the men and a woman flee the scene.
The motive for the execution, residents said, could have been a recent misunderstanding between Duncan and a deportee.
The deceased leaves to mourn his father, Compton Duncan; mother Wilma Whinfield and his children, 10- year-old daughter, Makaylah and son Caelyn, one year four months old.
He was described as a very respectable young man, who was courteous and willing to assist his many clients.
Compton Duncan said he never knew of his son being involved in any illegal activity.
A post mortem on the burnt remains of the victim is expected to be performed today in Georgetown.
