Kares T10 Nationwide Tape Ball cricket tournament

Registration slow but ongoing
REGISTRATION for the inaugural Kares Engineering Incorporated and Bushy Park Sawmills-sponsored nationwide Ten10 tape ball cricket tournament is under way and so far, 268 teams have signalled their intentions to compete in the tournament which has over $6M in cash and prizes on offer.
With nine days to go before the first ball is bowled, the organisers of the tournament, which is being held in collaboration with, and played under, the Rules of the Guyana Softball League (GSL), expect the amount to surpass the 1 000 figure they are targeting.
To date, teams from Essequibo which has the most entries of 101, East Bank Demerara and East Coast have signalled their intentions, while disappointingly, only 20 teams have registered from the Ancient County of Berbice.
Teams are urged to get their entries in as early as possible, since the closing date for submitting registration forms is the June 5.
The schools are expected to field approximately 300 teams as the categories are male and female. The prizes for this zone amount to $200 000 for the winning team in both categories which will go towards a project for each category.
The man-of-the-match and woman-of-the-match for the semifinals and finals will each enjoy one laptop compliments of the sponsors, who have indicated their willingness to commit over $25M in the tournament, which is being used to create interaction within communities as well as the social cohesion necessary in our country.
Meanwhile the balls that will be used in this tournament are the Wilson tennis balls of the highest quality, which will be provided by the sponsors and taped by the organisers and sent to the various areas.
The spectators will also enjoy the promotions at the grounds during the matches. They will have access to hats, bats, pens, and other special prizes. Also in train are some novelty games that will each produce a winner to move forward to the final day and a special treat is planned for the individual who wins the final.
