THE Council of Delegates of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) will today wrap up the discussions of the extra-ordinary sessions which commenced yesterday at the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC), Liliendaal. The meeting at which recently-appointed Secretary-General, Mrs. Maria Emma Mejia Velez, examined other things the various proposals for the structure and budget of the Secretariat, regulations for the functioning of the Secretariat and a budget for its operations.
Heads of State and Government at the IV Summit held in November last year, had mandated the Pro Tempore Secretariat, with the assistance of Member States, to prepare a structure and budget for the UNASUR General Secretariat.
A report from the two-day discussion is to be submitted to the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs for their consideration
